Flotation NY

No special attire is necessary. According to Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials, people who have tried sensory deprivation are said to experience relief from stress , depression, anxiety, muscular pain and joint pain These people also said they felt an increase of optimism and sleep quality that lasted long after the session.
For most people it takes at least 3 sessions to get orientated and fully comfortable with the ancient practice of entering into a sensory reduced space (such as a cave, temple, pyramid or sweat lodge), the float tank is a modern day refinement of this truly unusual yet potentially beautiful experience.

Using sounds, music, entrainment and guided imagery, they first of all relax the conscious mind, then gently engage and transport the floater to a place of deep learning in the subconscious where they can alter behavior, improve performance and relieve physical conditions far more effectively than with floating alone.
The facility emphasizes the holistic healing aspects of floating, and encourages participants to experience LŪX lights before floating, which is a session under a series of quartz crystals cut to a specific frequency and color that shine and pulse above each of the body's seven chakras.

Research into flotation therapy (as opposed to just the effect of isolation) began in the USA at Ohio State University where floating was shown to improve creativity in Jazz musicians, accuracy in rifle shooting, focus before academic examinations and stress relief, among others.
The novelty and unawareness of what to expect is no longer there and you can dive deeper into the actual experience instead of worrying about superficial things like stinging salt or when is the music coming on. This practice of floating is truly the art of letting go, something we all could do better at. Eventually you'll have to let everything go in this life, no body makes it out alive ;). So consider it something different, something deeper, perhaps inquire as to why you feel uncomfortable simply being just with yourself, alone, and unstimulated.
Curious as to whether cannabis would further elevate the experience and its purported benefits, I enlisted Leafly editor Brett and my husband, Jason, to boldly float Float Therapy where no sober person has floated before (who am I kidding, it's Seattle; I'm guessing the majority of sensory deprivation tank clients are probably high).
